Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to work in a medical office environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for compounding IV medications, specifically for chemotherapy drugs, and ensuring all procedures are conducted under biosafety protocols. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, knowledge of drug information, and adherence to safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Work under biosafety hood or biosafety cabinet.
- Compound IV medications for chemotherapy drugs.
- Check inventory and place medication orders.
- Utilize Flat Iron EMR system.
- Keep current with drug information and maintain MSDS sheets.
- Dispose of materials used in the preparation of chemo and non-chemo IVs properly.
- Compound medications in a clean room environment, ensuring sterile technique is maintained.
- Review all orders for accuracy and completeness of information.
- Calculate and confirm drug dosages and measurements.
- Clean the hood daily or as per policy and procedures.
- Support drug inventory management and ordering processes.
- Maintain accurate logs for the clean room and preparation room.
- Prepare medications in compliance with OSHA and internal guidelines.
Essential Skills
- Active NJ Pharmacy Technician License.
- 1 year of IV/chemo admixture experience.
- Pharmacy technician certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with chemotherapy drug handling and admixture.
- Proficiency in using Flat Iron EMR.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and biosafety protocols.
Work Environment
This position operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, with no weekends and minimal overtime expected. The role is based in a small office environment with three providers and nine nurses, including per diems. The pharmacy technician will be the only one performing this job in the office and will work in a dedicated area for mixing medications. Reporting is to the nursing manager for day-to-day management, and to the head of pharmacy technicians for inventory-related matters. The role offers a less pressured workflow compared to a hospital setting, opportunities for continued education, and room for growth within the network.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $54080.00/yr.
Will receive holiday, vacation, and sick days. Eligible for benefits covering medical, vision and dental insurance.
