Position SummaryThe Senior Director, Professional Relations, is responsible for coordinating and leading activities related to professional/medical societies/associations, and, in coordination with internal partners and other non-media stakeholders who influence the healthcare environment. The Senior Director is accountable for working across the wide range of Geron internal stakeholders to understand and align Geron goals and objectives with those of the external community. Additionally, the Senior Director is accountable for coordinating activity and communication across the Geron team as it relates to initiatives (advisory boards, membership opportunities, new clinical data, etc.) important to providers and professional societies.Geron has two corporate headquarters in Foster City, CA and Parsippany, NJ. This position is remote, with occasional travel to corporate offices and to partner locations. The Senior Director reports to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs Strategy & Field Medical Excellence.Primary Responsibilities Acts as the primary point of contact with professional societies, managing/triaging engagements internally and externally Works across the Geron enterprise to develop and implement an integrated global strategic engagement and execution plan for engaging with professional societies Implement strategies to drive disease awareness, patient engagement, clinical trial awareness, policy improvements, and ongoing Geron corporate brand equity Drives integrated cross-functional internal collaborative engagement (e.g., European strategy and work, Oncology Drug Advisory Committee work, ICER feedback, and appropriate guideline information) Leads efforts to secure insights from professional organizations Serves as the subject matter expert on environmental issues of importance to providers, practices, and professional societies - including issues of practice flow, government considerations, and policy issues. Meets regularly, in-person and virtually, with leaders of professional organizations Represents Geron at professional society meetings and events globally Ensures that Geron fulfills obligations and maximizes opportunities associated with Medical/Professional society memberships/sponsorships Serves as the subject matter expert on industry compliance regulations regarding professional societies (e.g., guidelines use and development, etc.) Partners with Legal and Compliance functions to outline appropriate guardrails related to engaging and influencing external environmentCompetencies Strong interpersonal skills required Track record of leading professional society strategies and campaigns - strategic thinker with solid understanding of drug development, regulatory, and commercial processes and proven understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines Able to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, to anticipate needs from team members and cross functional departments, and to balance multiple and often diverse priorities to execute projects and deliverables Strong understanding of compliance and the legal and regulatory landscape within the US, EU/UK as they relate to professional society and HCP interactionsExperience Minimum bachelor's degree in science, life science, business, or related major, advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, DO, MBA) preferred Health care professional preferred 12 years of experience working in the biopharmaceutical industry (preferred in medical affairs, health systems, and/or clinical R&D) or professional societies 10 years of external relationship management (with nonprofit groups) and well established contacts in the overall community with 5+ years of direct professional society experienceBenefit Statement:All regular-status, full-time employees of Geron are eligible to participate in the Company's comprehensive benefit program, pursuant to plan terms and conditions.
