SUMMARY: The Risk Manager identifies, assesses, and controls threats to the company's capital and earnings. The primary focus of this position is on client and vendor contracts and insurance. Additional areas of responsibility include building, employee and IT risks. The Business Risk Manager must be well versed in legal contracts and insurance. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned. Identifies financial and security risks including but not limited to contracts, insurance, building, employee and IT risks Develops and implements policies and procedures to address these risks Manages relationships with outside attorneys, using them when needed Develops, reviews and negotiates client, subcontractor, and vendor contracts and client non-disclosure and assignment agreements Develops and reviews employee related contracts such as non-disclosure, non-compete, and confidentiality agreements Works with outside counsel to manage company litigation and arbitration claims Assesses, secures, and manages renewals and claims relating to company insurance policies including general liability, auto, life, worker's compensation, professional liability, etc. Manages the client lien and lien waiver process Conducts collection conversations with clients and escalate to attorneys if necessary Identifies, assesses and implements appropriate document retention policies for the company Interfaces regularly with clients, vendors, attorneys, and insurance companies Works closely with the Partners of the firm, the Director of Finance, and the HR and Administrative departments to develop and implement risk management policies and best practices Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required to effectively collaborate with internal and external departments Bachelor's degree (Required). Law degree (JD, MLS, or MDR) (Preferred). A minimum of five years of contract management or risk management role. (Preferred) Experience in the AEC industry a plus. Thorough understanding of contract law and insurance. Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Experience supervising people, coordinating projects, and delegating responsibilities Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, division, multiplication. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and PDF programs. Ability to learn new systems quickly.
