Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Description
This role involves 90% administrative duties and 10% hands-on patient care. The registered nurse will primarily handle phone triage, update medications and orders, schedule procedures, and maintain patient files. You will also be responsible for organizing medications for doctors, updating the EMR system (Athena), and researching prescription refills before submitting to the doctor.
Responsibilities
- Employ appropriate and timely use of tasking in EHR.
- Maintain efficient patient flow.
- Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
- Ensure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
- Prepare pertinent information needed for patient visits.
- Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
- Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
- Collect lab specimens according to departmental guidelines and accurately label specimens.
- Obtain and document vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, height & weight) accurately and completely in EHR.
- Demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document in EHR.
- Schedule appointments appropriately and accurately according to department guidelines.
- Review and update medication lists in EHR and demonstrate understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.
- Accurately document known allergies in EHR.
- Enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
Essential Skills
- Patient care experience.
- EMR experience (Athena or Epic preferred).
- Associates degree required; BS preferred.
- NJ State Nursing License.
- Active BLS certification.
- Experience in outpatient, primary care, and hospital facility settings.
- Proficiency in triage.

Work Environment
The work environment includes 90% administrative duties and 10% hands-on clinical work. Responsibilities often involve triage, updating EMR, checking in patients, and quick revisit clinical work. The role is a contract position with potential for permanent placement after 6 months. The shift is Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm with no weekends. The team consists of 6 providers, 3 PAs, 3 RNs (including you), 4 MAs, 4 surgical schedulers, and 3 PSRs. Physical requirements include pushing and pulling, physical strength to lift heavy objects, mobility, agility, dexterity, balance during climbing, bending and/or reaching, and endurance for continuous typing and prolonged standing/bending/walking.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $53.00
