Senior Director, Engineering & Software Development
POSITION PROFILE
Senior Director, Engineering & Software Development directs the multi-discipline, Gemba engineering & technology development team with a high degree of business acumen and technical leadership. Responsible for the direction, definition, oversight, coordination and development of enterprise customer's IT technology. Manages cross-functional, multi-region engineering projects for global Ricoh US and Ricoh Family Group through customer facing activities. Responsible for developing MVP (Minimum Viable Product) through innovations and customer collaborations with 3rd party premium technology partner. Provide key technology direction to Ricoh US Marketing team.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and directs engineering & technology development of Ricoh solutions and services based on market and customer requirements. Ensures overall alignment of technology development with RCL and Ricoh US Marketing.
- Collaborate with enterprise customer IT to deliver and manage successful Prototype activities to lead in delivering MVP(Minimum Viable Product) services/solutions with real customer pain points and requirements.
- Contribute as technology lead in determining product roadmap with product, solutions and services marketing, services delivery, technology support and other key stake holders to align with technology strategies. Serves as technical leader & liaison to other part of Marketing Teams on software solutions and services.
- Leads and directs technology development with global strategic technology leaders in industry to create innovative technology solution that will meet the demands of rapidly changing global enterprise IT industry.
- Researches, analyzes and creates strategy roadmap for technology development to influence customer's technical leadership for the future vision and technical direction.
- Directs and manages team of senior level cloud/ IT technology developers to provide leadership in delivering end to end enterprise cloud/IT technology solutions and services.
- Manages multi-discipline, cross-functional, global technology development projects based on request by RCL.
- Meets departmental operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements, annual budget; scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, complying guidelines, initiating corrective actions and supports the organization's budgeting processes.
- Contribute recommendations in positioning Ricoh as a solution and services leader with new opportunities and technologies that are emerging (i.e. Artificial Intelligence, cognitive solution, cloud native application, mobility focused applications, analytics and business intelligence tools etc.).
- Working with RCL and 3rd party premier technology partners/developers to oversee pilot launches of new technology ultimately measuring performance/success of these engagements.
- Manages and protects Ricoh technology intellectual property through RAC IP management.
- Focus on maintaining team's technology expertise through training and certification while mentoring Gemba Engineering & Development Center leaders.
- Provides routine and on-command communications to executives and clients on the progress to target of the enterprise client technology development.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
- The successful candidate will have a MS degree or equivalent work experience combined with a minimum of 15 years relevant work experience, at least 10 years of which is in a technology management capacity.
- Exceptional technical credentials including complex development management and established technical relationship with industry leaders.
- Possesses a unique blend of business acumen and technical savvy, a big-picture vision and the driver to make the vision a reality.
- Possesses excellent team and project management skills and experience.
- In depth knowledge and experience related to the enterprise technology architecture as well as cloud/IT infrastructure deployment and/or distributed system implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in working in teams, matrix organizations, and across functions to accomplish results.
- Experience in change management and transforming teams.
- Ability to work consistently in a fast-paced, diversified, mutli-cultural and high-pressure environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams to accomplish challenging goals. Ability to develop organizational, team and employee competencies that result in a more innovative, adaptive and knowledgeable team.
- A well established track record of overseeing highly visible large-scale projects that center on emerging, unproven or complex technologies that impact global enterprise business goals.
- Technical skills in enterprise cloud/IT architecture and design based on real world application development and design including experience with the Java and other open platforms as well as Microsoft Technology stack (including .NET), C++, mobile software development and web technologies.
- In depth knowledge of the Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google cloud infrastructure technologies (systems, storage, security, networking, virtualization technologies, etc.)
- Ability to work with ambiguous goals and to meet or exceed aggressive deadlines in uncertain environments.
- Proven skills in forming and developing high performing technical teams that demonstrate excellence in a dynamic environment with a high degree of flexibility and accountability
- Ability to communicate with all levels and areas of the industry and company.
- Very strong interpersonal and communications skills including public speaking and both oral and written proficiency.
- Must be able create strong high trust partnerships with 3rd party partner and business stakeholders.
- Ability to present complex technical topics to a non-technical audience is a strong plus.
- Ability to clearly communicate throughout the organization and management chain with excellent problem-solving skills under pressure, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to take on in a leadership role.
