OVERVIEW:
The Strategic Insights & Solutions team is looking for analytical experts with experience in some combination of the below areas of focus. Individuals must be able to retrieve data, complete analyses and model solutions in order to provide meaningful insights and recommendations for plans to manage their benefit costs. The Senior Advisor must be able to understand the mechanics behind existing models or how to build new models using the Information Warehouse or other data applications and must have the creativity and flexibility to also support product discussions and understand when a custom solution is warranted.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
An integral member of a new team that will help create, lead and drive product and customized solution recommendations supporting strategic client account teams. This position will partner with and support the SIS team Principals with analytic support and consultation as the team looks holistically at the opportunities for the client, addressing client specific and customized solution needs that drive down overall healthcare spend. The Senior Advisor will work both independently and collaboratively to perform financial and data analysis of client specific data to identify and create customized and consultative solutions for clients while funneling book of business product opportunities into the core product teams. They will leverage existing tools and models when possible, and create new models if appropriate leveraging analytical expertise. The Senior Advisor may be required to project manage specific deliverables and client work to ensure milestones are being met and work is being done timely and on schedule. Accountability for client retention, satisfaction and growth will be shared across the SIS team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Use SQL, BiQuery, Excel and Tableau to aid in analytical requests and proactive opportunity identification
- Leverage reports and tools at Express Scripts - Extracts and comparisons of formulary, drug lists, CPC's, pipeline reports, and various reports and financial/clinical models within the Analyst tool
- Perform analysis of claims utilization including analysis of trend, most common indications, drug level market share, channel management, patient behavior, benchmarking, key performance indicators, etc.
- Perform deep analysis on client data to provide meaningful insights that identify key areas of opportunity
- Create visualization of insights, using graphs, charts, reporting and other visualization tools
- Leverage analytical expertise, creativity and collaboration to turn meaningful insights into actionable items
- Collaborate with Principals on analysis, strategy and client consultation
- Project manage deliverables to ensure milestones are hit and work is being done timely and on schedule
- Bring forward ideas/recommendations from areas of subject matter expertise to clients, account teams, and product leaders
- Support efforts piloting solutions and custom product development
- Share insights, pain points, and new ideas with product team partners
- Work directly with Account Team to support requests and client insights
- Build new analytical models that highlight value or provide client insights
- Support analysis and modeling in one or more core pillars:
- Pharmacy optimization - expertise in network products, contracts, client in-house pharmacies, 340b, DIR, etc.
- Drug level optimization - expertise in client formulary, generics, UM, DUR, RTS, biosimilars, rebates, etc.
- Benefit optimization - expertise in benefit design, tiered copay structures, copay card solutions, discount cards, accumulators, patient affordability programs and solutions, benefit wraps, etc.
- Key conditions - expertise in key categories such as specialty/diabetes/oncology/ MSK/inflammatory/others, management across pharmacy and medical, site of care, product bundling and carve-out strategies, cross-sell coordination, clinical guarantees, etc.
- Medicare/Medicaid - expertise in regulated markets
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of experience within healthcare / PBM industry
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree or MBA desirable
- Technical knowledge of relational database concepts, querying, data warehouses and decision support tools, including but not limited to: SQL, BiQuery, Excel, and Tableau
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex information and draw relevant conclusions
- Demonstrated experience building queries, pulling data, building models, performing complex analyses and summarizing findings (both written and visually)
- Ability to evaluate data and drive action to create additional value
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team to achieve team goals and support clients
- Ability to work in ambiguous or new situations by demonstrating a structured approach to diagnosing the problem, analyzing alternatives, recommending and implementing best solutions
- Knowledge in one or more of the core product pillars: Pharmacy optimization, Drug optimization, Benefit optimization, Clinical optimization, and Medicare/Medicaid
