Growth opportunity, professional development and a culture of support and resources are provided to each employee for their personal growth and success within Tilcon New York Inc., and CRH.<br/><br/>Position Overview<br/><br/>The intern will assist the VP of Government Affairs at Tilcon NY with the regular government relations and advocacy efforts of the company, including onsite tours, interaction with elected officials, engagement with trade associations, community engagement and promotion of the policy agenda of the construction industry. It will provide the intern with hands-on experience in stakeholder engagement, public policy and advocacy work at the local, county, state, and federal levels. This internship will provide an opportunity to master administrative skills, expand their professional network, and learn about the construction and transportation industry in the NY metro area.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)<br/><br/>Assist with advocacy and government relations for the organization, including:<br/><br/>Administrative outreach to government offices for special events<br/><br/>Scheduling of legislative visits with local, county and state elected offices<br/><br/>Support for Community Engagement efforts, including our Community Days, Group tours, Proactive outreach materials<br/><br/>Participate in monthly meetings with outside lobbying representation and our federal affairs team<br/><br/>Maintain Stakeholder Matrix<br/><br/>Monitoring and tracking of state and federal legislation<br/><br/>Drafting content for external communications<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.<br/><br/>Education/Experience<br/>Student at a college, university, or technical school.<br/>Majoring in pre-law or political science<br/><br/><br/>Work Requirements<br/>Reliable transportation.<br/><br/><br/>Knowledge/Skill Requirements<br/>Ability to convey a positive and professional image as an Intern.<br/>Ability to follow direction and complete simple tasks.<br/>Ability to be tactful with average communication skills.<br/>Ability to deal effectively with questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed.<br/>Ability to maintain confidentiality.<br/>Must be computer literate.<br/><br/><br/>Physical Requirements<br/><br/>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.<br/>Have verbal and numerical ability, spatial form, and clerical perception.<br/>Average motor coordination, finger dexterity, manual dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination and color discrimination.<br/>Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handing, fingering, feeling, and seeing.<br/>Talking and hearing to express or exchange ideas and giving or receiving detailed oral or written instructions.<br/><br/><br/>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
