About:
Founded in 1946 and located at Acorn Hall since 1971, Morris County Historical Society (MCHS) is a growing 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Morris County history. One of the leading county-level historical societies in New Jersey, MCHS staff are industry-leading professionals , spearheading consequential county-wide initiatives, researching and curating engaging exhibitions, and actively building and stewarding one of the richest and most diverse local history collections in New Jersey.

Acorn Hall (1860), home to four generations of Crane and Crane-Hone family members, is one of New Jersey's best preserved historic house museums. Replete with original furniture, finishes, fine and decorative arts, the Hall serves as MCHS's most outward example of our mission. Tours of Acorn Hall allow visitors to gain a new perspective on 19th century life in Morristown, while tours of the Hall's two gallery spaces lend insight into our exhibits, which are derived for our extensive collections and archival holdings.
